Every hour, a child in Wisconsin is born into poverty. The Children's Defense Fund reports that 14% of Wisconsin's children are poor and 6.4% are without health insurance. Only 55% of eligible children receive food stamps. The statistics are staggering and on the rise.

These economic times impact everyone, but particularly those already struggling. The Basic Needs Fund will be a source of comfort and opportunity for non-profit organizations waging the fight against poverty throughout Green Lake County.

We are all here to be part of the solution. On July 20, 2009, Magnum Products LLC hosted the Tee It Up 4 Basic Needs golf outing at the Mascoutin Golf Course in Berlin WI. The successful fundraising event raised $35,000, all of which will benefit those who stand to gain from grants that will be given from the Green Lake County Basic Needs Fund. Partners of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, will generously match the $35,000 with another $35,000, all dedicated for Green Lake County. Together we did it!

  • The time is now. It won't get any easier or cheaper to address these issues in the future.
  • The Basic Needs Fund is one of the best charitable investments you can make in Green Lake County. 100% of every dollar contributed will be matched with another dollar and go directly to support non-profit organizations engaged in problem solving in our county.
  • Collaborative funding by corporations, foundations and private donors is the answer to this problem. There is strength in numbers.
  • The Ripon/Green Lake Area Community Foundation will grant 10% of the Basic Needs Fund each year. For the next two years, the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation will match the 10% grant distribution from our fund with funds from the J.J.Keller Foundation, Inc. giving Green Lake County twice the money for 2009 and 2010.
